Born in Afghanistan and raised in Germany, Zamarin attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts as a Dean's fellow and was awareded the Nestor Almendros Award for outstanding cinematography. Her work has been screened at Sundance, Berlinale, SXSW and Tribeca. She recently received an Academy Award for the short documentary "Learning how to Skate in a Warzone" (if you’re a girl) where she worked as an additional cinematographer and interviewer. With a deep interest in expanding the boundaries of how to tell stories visually, she continued her career as a Film Independent Project Involve Fellow in Los Angeles, where she shot the short film Liberty (Special Jury Price for best International Short, Berlinale 2020). Zamarin is drawn to tell stories that let us not only see but feel characters from the inside out and is currently an ASC Vision Mentee.
