Teodora Totoiu is a Romanian-American cinematographer based in Los Angeles. She
received her MFA in Cinematography from UCLA School of Theater, Film and
Television. Passionate in both narrative and documentary work, she has lensed a variety
of award-winning projects including short narrative films, music videos, fashion editorials
and documentary feature films with clients including Swarovski, Empress Of and Mitu.
Her recent body of work includes the highly anticipated “Women Of Light” - a feature
documentary highlighting the inspirational lives and achievements of female
cinematographers around the world supported by the ASC; and a second feature-
documentary focusing on themes of water education around the world, capturing visual
stories in Brazil, Uganda, Austria, India and China set to be completed Fall 2017.
Most recently, she made her directorial debut in A Distance (Departare), a Romanian-
language short film which she also DP’d. In June 2017, Departare was selected to
screen at the Director’s Guild of America in Los Angeles as part of Director’s Spotlight
where it took home the highest honor- the 2017 UCLA Blue Ribbon Panel Award.
