Born in Portugal, Tânia da Fonseca studied New Technologies of Communication in Aveiro’s University (Portugal). At UA she discovered her love for cinema and she also won a few awards related to audiovisual. After that, she decided to specialize in photography, so she went to Barcelona to study Cinematography at the prestigious ESCAC (Spain). In between she worked in movies like “The Possession of Emma Evans” from Filmax, “The Impossible” and “A Monster Calls” from J.A. Bayona. She also participated in spots like Ligeresa from Ogyilvy, San Miguel’s beer for Oxígeno, Oxfam for Apaches Entertainment and Yoigo for Domain Content. In the past few years she specialized in Cinematography, resulting in a variety of media content such as movies, documentaries, music videos and commercials. Among them stands out: Tiendanimal “What do your pets do while you aren´t at home?” for Fullsix, “Si vas pacem para bellum” from Monika Bysina, “4 days of October” from Àlvar Andrés Elías, “Hibernation” and “Ashen” from Jon Mikel Caballero, which gave her a few awards for Best Cinematography. She’s in love with magical realism and neo noir narrative, which she tries to explore by ambiance and mise-en-scène on her works.
