Tey is a Manila based cinematographer with a focus on making feature films that champions the visual narratives of her country. She received a BA in Film from the University of the Philippines Film Institute and has participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2006 and the International Documentary Masterclass, Serbia in 2017. Tey recently got in to the American Society of Cinematographers' Vision Mentorship Program.
Starting primarily as a camera operator in local films, Tey received her first break as a DP in 2015 and since then completed eigtheen feature films, many of which have participated and won various awards in the Philippines and internationally. Her first international nomination came in 2018 for the film, Maestra (Teacher) in the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards. She has also been collaborating for international documentaries for WHO, Unicef, HBO, ESPN and has recently worked with Lauren Greenfield's The Kingmaker as an additional cinematographer.
