From cheap plastic cameras to finely constructed motion-picture systems, Leonora Anzaldua has a perpetual love of capturing images of a world transformed by lights and lenses. From an early age, she experimented with cameras and soon learned to develop film and print photographs. As an undergraduate at Yale University, Leonora studied both physics and photography (among other fine art and sociological disciplines). There she developed a passion for using the power of image to transcend language in communicating ideas and emotions. Leonora went on to earn her MFA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where her understanding of photography seamlessly transitioned into the discipline of cinematography. She discovered a passion for using her technical skills to help directors transform the images they’ve imagined into reality. In 2011, she was honored with the SUN Cinematography Award and a mentorship with Michael Goi, ASC. The following year, she was honored to join Michael’s camera team on American Horror Story: Asylum. Leonora now freelances on narrative, documentary, and commercial projects, as well as musical performances.
